The British brand’s C-size CUV model is expected to be back in stock around the end of the second quarter, competing with Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5 as its rivals.

Representative of MG Vietnam said that this model is still imported from Thailand. It is unclear whether the configuration of this version has changed compared to the previous version sold in Vietnam.

MG HS present in Vietnam in July 2020 by imported from China, priced at 788-999 million VND, then reduced to 719-869 million VND. The British-brand model is equipped with many technologies, but the weakness from the brand reputation mades HS cannot draw much attention in this segment, which has strong competitors from Japan and Korea such as Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson…

Beside selling HS back, MG Vietnam may launch a pure electric model at the end of the third quarter – the beginning of the fourth quarter, but its information has not been revealed yet. At the Vietnam Auto Show 2022, the British car brand, currently owned by SAIC Group (China), exhibited two of electric models: Marvel R and MG4 EV as a tentative step.

Besides new products, MG, from the beginning of March, increased the price by 3 million VND of all versions of CUV B and ZS series. New prices of MG ZS cars are 538 million, 588 million and 638 million VND, respectively for STD+, COM+ and LUX+ versions.

MG distributor in Vietnam has not given a specific reason for the price increase. The new ZS price and equipment and engines remain the same. The last price increase of ZS was in September 2022, at the rate of 9 million VND for all versions. Thus, for about half a year, the CUV model competes with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos has its price increased by 19 million VND.

MG has come back in Vietnam for three years but has yet to announce sales. According to information from salespeople, the CUV ZS model is still the main hope of the company. The MG5 sedan is low-priced but still hard to compete in the C-segment that has plenty of familiar names.
