The British automaker positions the MG RX5 between the ZS and HS, directly competing with the Toyota Corolla Cross and Mazda CX-30.
Coming up to the launch date of September 23, MG Vietnam has distributed the RX5 to the dealer system for display purposes. Previously, dealers had accepted deposits for this SUV at an expected price of 650 million VND.
The appearance of the MG RX5 in the Vietnamese market is not different from the international version. The front of the car stands out with a large, hourglass-shaped steering wheel integrated with radar. This design resembles some Lexus models. The headlight cluster is surrounded by a stylized C-shaped DRL LED strip. Below are two vertical air intakes.
The car uses Michelin tires sized 235/45 ZR19. The rearview mirror features LED turn signal lights and a 360-degree camera.
The interior combines two color tones. The center of the cabin has a 14.1-inch vertical touch screen integrated with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. The screen behind the steering wheel is 12.3 inches in size. In addition, the car is equipped with various features such as an electronic parking brake with Autohold, rear seat air vents, rear seat charging port, and a panoramic sunroof.
Currently, the performance specifications of the MG RX5 sold in Vietnam have not been disclosed. In the Chinese market, this SUV model uses a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, producing 171 hp and 275 Nm of torque, along with a 7-speed automatic transmission.
In terms of safety, the car is equipped with 6 airbags, 360-degree camera, cruise control, ABS, electronic brake distribution EBD, brake assist, traction control system, hill start assist and electronic stability control (ESC).
On September 23, MG Vietnam will introduce the MG5 manual version alongside the RX5, followed by the HS, MG7 and MG4 gasoline variants in the fourth quarter of 2023.
