Mitsubishi offers a series of car promotions, the highest being 135 million VND

12 Oct 2023

Like many brands such as Volkswagen, Subaru, Honda, Toyota, all Mitsubishi car models reduced prices in the form of 50-100% registration fee support for October.

Mitsubishi is taking decisive steps to invigorate the automotive market. Leading the charge is the Thai-imported Mitsubishi Triton pickup, which boasts a cash discount of 135 million VND. This substantial reduction is complemented by a 100% registration fee incentive, which effectively covers 60% of the car’s total registration fee. With Triton models ranging from 650-905 million VND, the overall cost reduction amounts to an impressive 174-200 million VND, depending on the specific location.

The company is also extending the 100% registration fee support to their B-size sedan, the Mitsubishi Attrage, valued between 380-490 million VND. As a result, the on-road price of the Attrage is slated to decrease by approximately 38-59 million VND, contingent on the locality. Likewise, the D-sized SUV Pajero Sport (1.12-1.365 billion VND) is benefiting from a 100% registration fee discount, translating to a reduction of about 112-163 million VND.

Additional Mitsubishi models, including the Xpander (priced between 555-698 million VND) and Outlander (valued at 825-950 million VND), are receiving a 50% registration fee support. This initiative is set to alleviate the overall cost of the Xpander, which is the best-selling MPV model in Vietnam, by approximately 28-41 million VND. For the Outlander line, the reduction hovers around 41-57 million VND.

These incentives, combined with dealer offerings, seek to enhance market liquidity as the year approaches its end. Mitsubishi currently assembles Outlander and a limited number of Xpander models with MT manual transmissions at its Binh Duong factory. The rest of the car models are imported from Thailand and Indonesia, rendering them ineligible for the government’s 50% registration fee incentive outlined in Decree 41. To remain competitive with domestically assembled counterparts, Mitsubishi has introduced registration fee support in a bid to reduce overall costs.

Since the start of 2023, amid a relatively subdued market, Mitsubishi, alongside other brands like Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, Volkswagen, and Subaru, have been actively promoting cash discounts, registration support, and complimentary accessories. Despite these efforts, sales remain about 30% lower compared to the same period last year. Mitsubishi, for instance, has sold 18,783 cars in the first 8 months of 2023, marking a 29% decline compared to the corresponding period in the previous year. Notably, the Xpander remains the brand’s best-selling model, accounting for approximately 65% of total sales with 12,269 units sold.
