Xpander 2022 is an upgraded version at the middle of the model’s life cycle since its initial launch in 2017. The car continues to be imported from Indonesia.

Mitsubishi Xpander 2022 is upgraded in both the interior and exterior, while the 1.5-liter MIVEC engine remains the same. In Indonesia, besides the option of a 5-speed MT manual gearbox, the new Xpander also has an automatic transmission configuration. However, instead of the 4-speed type like the old version, the company replaces it with a CVT.

The biggest change in the Xpander’s exterior is the new horizontal T-shaped headlights that is modern and strong. The navigational lights are placed higher and connected to the grille. The rear LED taillights are also slightly tweaked.

The overall design of the MPV model still follows Dynamic Shield design language. The new Xpander is longer and wider than the old version. The blade-shaped 17-inch two-tone wheels are also a new design.

The cockpit of Mitsubishi Xpander 2022 brings additional newness. In which, there is a freshly designed steering wheel. The central entertainment screen is larger, located separately on the dashboard. The air-conditioning vents have also been redesigned. On the other hand, the brand removed the mechanical handbrake and replaced it with an electronic one, making the gearshift area open and unobtrusive for the driver. Auto Hold feature makes its first appearance.

Xpander comes to Vietnam in the context of the small-sized MPV segment being rather excited. Avanza Premio and Veloz Cross have just started selling by Toyota since the second half of March. Meanwhile, while Suzuki also launched the upgraded Eriga and XL7.

The fact that rivals all have new versions puts a lot of pressure on Xpander, the best-selling model in the segment for the past 4 years (2018-2021). At the end of the first 3 months of 2022, Xpander still leads the segment with sales twice as much as Toyota Veloz and Avanza combined.

The current Mitsubishi Xpander is sold in Vietnam under 3 versions, priced at VND 555-630 million. Besides, Xpander Cross model costs 670 million VND.
