New cars to launch in Vietnam in April

VinFast VF 5, Audi e-tron RS, BMW X7 2023 will launch in Vietnam this month.

The auto market in early 2023 is going through a gloomy period in terms of purchasing power, but not so that the manufacturers’ plans to launch new products are stopped. In April, many new products from popular to luxury class will be launched.

 

* VinFast VF 5 Plus

Vietnamese automaker plans to launch VinFast VF 5 Plus, the smallest electric car model in the range intended for the domestic market. The VF 5 haven’t had a concept or commercial version in Vietnam yet. The rare appearance of this model is at the CES 2022 show (USA), as concept version.

VF 5 Plus will be the replacement for the A-size hatchback Fadil, which used to dominate the sales of the Vietnamese market in the years of opening sale. The petrol Fadil is discontinued, while the VF 5 Plus is positioned as a high ground clearance A-size (crossover), which is larger than the Fadil. This VinFast’s electric model has a wheelbase of 2,513 mm, with long, wide, and high dimensions of 3,965 x 1,720 x 1,580 mm, respectively.

Compared to other models in the same A-size crossover segment, the size of VF 5 is almost equivalent to Toyota Raize (wheelbase of 2,525 mm, with length, width, height of 4,030 x 1,710 x 1,605 mm). The Sonet has slightly larger overall dimensions than the above two models, with size of 4,120 x 1,790 x 1,642 mm. However, the wheelbase of Kia Sonet is only 2,500 mm, lower than both VF 5 and Raize.

VF 5 Plus is equipped with an electric motor, with a capacity of 134 horsepower, maximum torque of 135 Nm and front-wheel drive. The lithium battery pack of VinFast VF 5 Plus has a capacity of 37.23 kWh, for a travel distance of 300 km after each full charge. The company has not specified yet the method and time for charging of this model.

In Vietnam, VinFast VF 5 Plus priced 458 million VND (excluding battery) and 538 million VND (including battery, which battery costs 80 million).

 

* Audi e-tron GT RS

During a meeting with the media at the House of Progress event in early April in Singapore, representative of Audi Vietnam distributor said that they are about to introduce e-tron GT RS for domestic customers. The launch of this electric sports car also marks the launch of Audi’s own showroom showcasing electric vehicles and charging stations, located in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

Compared to the regular version launched on July 7th, the Audi e-tron GT RS is not much different in terms of exterior and interior. While the engine efficiency is much greater.

The e-tron GT RS version is equipped with two electric motors mounted on each axle, a two-speed gearbox, and an 85-kWh battery pack. The car has a capacity of 598 horsepower, 830 Nm of torque. The overboost feature increases power to 646 Nm. While the standard version produces 476 horsepower and 630 Nm of torque. The overboost feature increases power to 530 hp and torque to 640 Nm.

The high-performance RS accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds (0.8 seconds faster than the regular version) and a maximum speed of 250 km/h. In Vietnam, Audi e-tron GT RS competes with Porsche Taycan, the model has 7 versions, priced from 4.76 billion to 9.55 billion VND. The two models, Audi and Porsche share the same chassis.

The price of the e-tron GT RS has not been revealed yet. Particularly, the standard version costs 5.2 billion VND.

 

* BMW X7

Mid-life upgrade of BMW X7 It is expected to be introduced in April in two versions: M Sport and Pure Excellence. The car is now available in Vietnam and wait for launch, the price is expected from more than 6.2 billion VND.

The 7 X2023 has some changes in the exterior and interior. The LED headlights are redesigned similar to the new BMW 7 series with a separate shape of the lights and navigation lights. The LED rear taillights are slimmer.

Inside the cockpit, dual screens stretch across the dashboard instead of separate style of the old version. The gear lever switches to button type. All of these create a strange style compared to previous BMWs.

The new X7 retains the same 3.0 I6 engine but increases performance. The car reaches 375 hp and 519 Nm of torque, an increase of 40 hp and 71 Nm of torque in value. It has an 8-speed gearbox and 4-wheel drive.
