Toyota Fortuner diesel hybrid is expected to launch in Southeast Asia in 2023.

According to Headlight Magazine of Thailand, Toyota Fortuner 2023 will use TNGA-F structure and mild-hybrid system combining diesel engine with electric motor. This is the first Toyota model with such combination.

In addition to assisting the vehicle in starting and accelerating, this mild-hybrid system also helps operate the air conditioning system to reduce fuel consumption. In the current generation Fortuner, the 2.8L 1GD-FTV turbo diesel engine produces 201 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque.

Toyota’s development of hybrid systems using diesel engines has been reported by the media since August 2021. At the time, the Japanese news site Best Car Web informed that this engine will be used for 4WD off-road vehicles and commercial vehicles. In addition, nearly a year ago, a source from India also said that the third generation Toyota Fortuner also added a panoramic sunroof, electronic body stability system and an advanced driver assistance package called ADAS.

Also, according to Headlight Magazine, the new generation Toyota Fortuner to be launched next year with a mild-hybrid diesel engine is expected to have a lower price than the Fortuner Legender version.

In Vietnam, Toyota Fortuner is a 7-seater SUV that is genuinely distributed with 7 versions in both forms: assembled and imported CBU from Indonesia. The selling price ranges from 1,187-1,459 billion VND.
