Limited to just four units, Droptail models are all coachbuilt, with the first one introduced known as La Rose Noire. 

The Rolls-Royce Coachbuild division has just introduced its latest model during Monterey Car Week in California. Droptail model only includes four units worldwide.

The first car launched was the Black Rose version, inspired by a French rose called Black Baccara. The Droptail painted in a special red looks like black in the shade, but cloaks in a pearly red color in the sun. Rolls-Royce created this color by combining two red tones called True Love and Mystery.

Unlike the Rolls-Royce Sweptail and Boat Tail, the Droptail is not based on the same Architecture of Luxury platform as the Cullinan, Ghost, and Phantom and instead has a new monocoque chassis made from steel, aluminum, and carbon fiber.

The power train remains similar to the previous design of Rolls-Royce. The 6.75-liter twin- turbocharged V12 engine provides 593 hp and maximum torque of 840 Nm. It can accelerate from 0-100 100 km/h in less than 5.0 seconds with a top speed of 250 km/h.

A unique exterior design distinguishes the Droptail from all other Rolls-Royce models. The front of the car is equipped with a large chrome grille and slim LED headlights with daytime running lights. The body of the car is smooth. Its taillights are unlike any previous model. It is equipped with a stylish spoiler and an eye-catching decklid. It has a removable roof panel made from carbon fiber that includes electrochromic panels.

Rolls-Royce describes the interior as the “most remarkable element” of the car. It took almost two years to perfect with complex artwork that represents the falling rose petals, hand-crafted from 1,603 pieces of black wood veneer.

The seats are swathed in two-toned red leather. Located in the center of the dash is a custom watch by Audemars Piguet. This 43 mm chronograph can be detached with a button to wear on the hand.

The owner of the Droptail Black Rose also ordered a champagne chest. This champagne chest can be opened at the push of a button and includes a set of glasses and a removable serving tray.

Rolls-Royce has not revealed the specific price of each of the four Droptail models, but it is estimated to be at around $25 – 30 million.
