240 Mercedes S450 4Matic vehicles are recalled due to a defect regarding the watertightness of the front bulkhead under the wipers in Vietnam.
According to information from the Vietnam Register, there will be 240 Mercedes-Benz S450 4Matic luxury vehicles manufactured between July 2019 and November 2020 receiving a recall notice to fix a fault that may lead to a short circuit or electric current leakage. In particular, the sticker in the front bulkhead under the wipers in the vehicle may not meet the water tightness requirements.
Therefore, in some cases of exposure to large amounts of water, water can get inside the car and cause corrosion of the electrical contacts installed there and lead to a short circuit or current leakage. As a result, the functionality of the active safety system (Pre-Safe) may be affected, which may increase the risk of injury in the event of an accident. In addition, this problem may cause the car to fail to restart.
Starting in July 2023, customers using Mercedes-Benz S450 4Matic vehicles covered by the recall will be checked for a watertightness problem with the front bulkhead under the wipers. The repair time of each vehicle takes about 2 hours.
Earlier, some Mercedes-Benz models such as ML, GLS … also received recall notice and this is the 4th batch of this brand. Mercedes S450 4Matic is considered a luxury car that is popular with the rich since the expense for owning this model is somewhat more attractive than other competitors.
