According to information from the Vietnam Ministry of Registry, errors related to the battery and the backrest lock on the third row are the reasons why Mercedes-Benz Vietnam continuously recalls the car.

For the E350 AMG (code W213), the recall program in Vietnam is part of the global recall program with number 5490204 to check and strengthen the holder for the vehicle’s 12V battery.

According to the description, the car’s battery can be much heavier than the original rack can withstand. Therefore, the reinforcement to avoid the risk of the battery moving unintentionally in case of accidents. At the time, there is a risk that the power cord connected to the battery can come off, leading to many safety systems in the vehicle not working as designed.

The vehicles affected by the recall were manufactured at Mercedes-Benz’s factory in Vietnam between July and August 2018 with 48 affected vehicles. The time to fix the error (free of charge) is about half an hour per vehicle at the dealerships of the German automaker in Vietnam. The recall period will last from now until December 31, 2025.

In addition to the E350 AMG, the German automaker also recalled 663 GLS 450 4MATIC (code X167) with a fault located in the spring in the locking mechanism of the third-row backrest. The recalled vehicles are also assembled and manufactured by Mercedes-Benz Vietnam between March 2019 and June 2022.

According to the description, this spring might not be installed according to specifications. In the event of an accident, failure of the seat backrest locking function cannot be ruled out, leading to an increased risk of injury to occupants. Therefore, inspection and correction are necessary. Similar to the E350, the GLS 450 4MATIC recall period also lasts from now until the end of December 31, 2025.

Two new recalls extend Mercedes-Benz’s rather dense recall program in the domestic market. Particularly in November, this car company has recalled C300 (W06 generation) to fix the error related to the phenomenon of water leaking into the signal acquisition and activation module; parallel with the GLE and GLS (number 167) to fix the assembly error for the decorative bar in the rear triangle window.

From the beginning of 2022 until now, Mercedes-Benz Vietnam has implemented 7 recalls of its vehicles in Vietnam with several thousands of vehicles experiencing various errors. Vehicles subject to the recall from the beginning of 2022 are imported and assembled in Vietnam.
