RZ 450e – Lexus’s first premium electric vehicle

The Japanese luxury car brand has confirmed that Lexus’ first electric model, the RZ 450e, will make its world debut on April 20. The new car is based on Toyota’s e-TNGA platform and similar in appearance to Lexus’ NX model.

Before launching in mid-April, the RZ 450e was introduced at the end of 2021 as the forerunner of Lexus’ electric product line. In February 2022, the RZ 450e was revealed with a series of exterior images. On April 5, Lexus released more photos of the interior and exterior design of the production version of the RZ 450e.

According to Carscoops, the RZ 450e cabin is based on the LF-Z Electrified concept. The highlight lies in the unique styling steering wheel, digital instrument cluster and touch screen for the driver-oriented infotainment system. The interior uses high-quality materials.

The production version’s appearance is refined compared to the concept version, but still remains aerodynamic, sportiness, and youthfulness. Closed spindle grille and Lexus-specific headlight cluster. The rear end is more aggressive. The rear windshield is steeper, with its sports spoiler and LED taillights cover the entire width.

RZ 450e features two electric motors and four-wheel drive with Lexus’ new Direct4 system, focusing on performance and driving pleasure. The battery pack has not been announced. Given, its concept uses a 90-kWh lithium-ion battery for a range of 600 km.

The Lexus RZ 450e is positioned to compete with rivals like Tesla Model Y, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Audi Q4 e-tron Sportback, and Genesis GV60.
