In response to changes in registration fee for assembled models starting December, imported cars are discounted by tens and hundreds of million VND.

Vietnam’s auto market in the last month of 2021 becomes exciting when Decree 103 stipulates that the registration fee for assembled cars is reduced by 50%. Customers now rush to buy a car or go on vacations after purchasing one months ago.

This incentive helps assembled vehicles benefit. Consequently, imported cars, to increase competitiveness, are offered strong price incentives to accelerate sales for the rest of 2021. Below is a summary of incentives and discounts of firms in the market.

Toyota supports a registration fee of 30 million VND for the Rush. Meanwhile, Corolla Cross, Hilux, and Camry, due to short in stock, mainly promote extra accessories.

Honda supports 100% of registration fees for its imported cars such as Brio, Civic, or HR-V. For example, when a customer registers a car in Hanoi (12% registration fee), when buying a Honda Civic for 929 million VND, the savings are 111 million VND.

Subaru continues to offer great deals on its flagship Forester model. The company reduced 229 million VND for the “iL” version, bringing the car price down to 899 million VND. The “iS-EyeSight” version offers 100% discount on registration fees and license plate registration, a total reduction of 164 million reduced from the car price. In addition, the Japanese automaker’s distributor offers a central entertainment screen that connects Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 2 years of maintenance, automatic mirror folding, automatic door lock with integrated security alert. Mid-version Forester “iS” is out of stock.

Volkswagen reduces 85 million VND with accessories for the Tiguan Elegance version, which has the list price of 1,699 billion VND. The Polo hatchback is reduced by 16 million, while the Passat sedan dropped the most, up to 200 million dong to clear inventory. In December, the company also reduced the price of genuine parts by 10% for all models.

Suzuki reduces prices for all its imported passenger car products in the form of registration fee support: 100% for the Ertiga series, equivalent to VND 50-56 million. The best-seller XL7 series is supported with 50% of the registration fee and a 2-year physical insurance package, totaling about VND 49.5 million. The B-sized hatchback Swift offers the least incentive with a material insurance package worth 15 million VND.

Mazda supports 50% of the registration fee for its imported models including Mazda2, Mazda CX-30, CX-3. Particularly for Mazda BT-50, the company supports 100% of the registration fee for all buyers.

Ford offers 20 million VND for all versions of Everest. However, prices at dealers are further reduced by 30-40 million VND. After bringing Ranger to assemble domestically, Everest is the only car line of the company that is purely imported.
