There's a new five-door Suzuki Jimny, and you can't have it ...

Finally, the long-awaited Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door has been launched in the Indian market, entering into competition with its rival, the Mahindra Thar.

The Jimny 5-door is available in two variants: Zeta and Alpha. Both variants come with a standard 4-wheel drive system and offer the option of a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission. Powering the SUV is a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with a capacity of 105 horsepower and a maximum torque of 134.2 Nm.

In terms of fuel efficiency, the off-road SUV is equipped with the AllGrip Pro (4WD) system and achieves a consumption rate of 5.9 liters per 100 km with the manual transmission and 6.1 liters per 100 km with the automatic transmission.

The exterior of the Jimny 5-door resembles its sibling, the Jimny three-door version. Suzuki has equipped the 5-door Jimny with LED headlights. Inside, it features a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, an Arkamys audio system, and a reversing camera.

In terms of safety, the vehicle comes with standard features including 6 airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) and BA (Brake Assist), electronic stability control, limited slip differential, hill start assist, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door is available in six versions in the Indian market, with prices ranging from $15,400 to $18,300. The vehicles are set to be sold in the second quarter.

In Vietnam, many Suzuki showrooms have started accepting deposits from customers who wish to be among the first to receive the Suzuki Jimny cars in 2023, although the price has not yet been disclosed. The Suzuki Jimny, originating from the keicar line in Japan, has been in production since 1970. The latest Jimny represents the fourth generation, and its design is often likened to a miniature version of the Mercedes G-Class, which has earned it praise from car enthusiasts.
