In the “Environmental Plan 2050”, Yamaha Motor Corporation has set a target to reduce CO2 emissions by 90% (in phase 3) by 2050 compared to 2010. In which, NEO’s is a strategic product to be launched as a milestone to achieve said goal.

Compact, modern, highly aesthetic design

NEO’s is a small electric scooter with a capacity equivalent to a gasoline-engine model at 50 cc. The bike belongs to Europe’s L1 class with a maximum design speed of no more than 45 km/h. The vertical ergonomic design that embraces users is perfectly combined with the horizontal mechanical design that embraces the battery and suspension system.

The model uses YIPU 2 electric motor, which is completed from the YIPU electric motor – an exclusive design from Yamaha.

In the 2nd generation YIPU, the engine, rear brake, and MCU control system are attached to the rear grip of the vehicle. This engine system is attached to the rim by bolts, making it simple to remove the wheels to patch or replace tires. In particular, NEO’s uses an air-cooled, direct-transmission electric motor, so there is little noise as compared to gear-transmitted motor, at the same time minimizes waste of kinetic energy. This electric motor is specially developed to produce high torque at low RPM for smooth and quiet rides.

Specialized chassis design, tires with small coefficient of friction

The underbone chassis is specially developed for the NEO’s electric scooter. The front and rear shock absorbers, as well as the balance of the vehicle’s dimensions help provide an extremely comfortable and natural driving experience. Specialized chassis design and tires with low coefficient of friction meet power saving demands.

The front rim is a 10-spoke die-cast aluminum rim while the rear rim is applied a special low-pressure aluminum die-casting technology. The rear wheel is applied new technology to reduce kinetic energy consumption, helping to save battery.

NEO’s electric scooter will be produced by Yamaha Motor Vietnam, the first foreign factory of Yamaha Motor Corporation to undertake this important task.
