Toyota Avanza 2022 will launch in the Indonesian market later this year with many notable changes in both engine and design. This MPV model is expected to return to Vietnam soon to compete with Mitsubishi Xpander and Suzuki Ertiga.

Over a week ago, Toyota Avanza 2022 was leaked in Indonesia. From which, more information of the new generation Avanza has been revealed. Accordingly, the Toyota Avanza 2022 will use the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) chassis, similar to the Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky.

Powertrain:

This also means that Avanza 2022 will have a change in powertrain, this MPV model may switch to a 1.5L 4-cylinder Dual VVT-i engine like the Toyota Sienta, expected to be more powerful than the old generation with a capacity of about 108 horsepower and maximum torque of 140 Nm.

Coming with the new engine will be a CVT gearbox instead of the old 4-wheel automatic version. However, it is expected that the 5-speed manual transmission will still be retained. On the other hand, Avanza 2022 is also likely to use front-wheel drive instead of rear-wheel drive as before.

Notably, the most advanced version of the Toyota Avanza 2022 is said to have the Toyota Safety Sense system. The package includes:

  • Lane departure assist
  • Collision prevention
  • Cruise control system
  • Cross-traffic alert when reversing
  • Blind-spot monitoring system
  • Electronic balance
  • Hill start assist

Exterior:

The Avanza 2022 bears both design resemblance to the RAV4 and Corolla Cross thanks to the large trapezoidal grille. On the sides are thin LED headlights and round fog lights with triangular metal decoration. The central air intake is located on the beautiful silver metal front bumper.

A prominent decorative detail on the new generation Toyota Avanza is a shiny chrome strip extending from the grille through the headlights, running along with the hood through window outlines, and ending in the D column. The rearview mirror cluster has also been moved to the door, while the muscular wheel arches give a strong and powerful appearance like an SUV. This Avanza model comes with 17-inch dual 5-spoke alloy wheels.

At the rear, the taillights are connected by a strip of lights extending the entire width of the rear area. The Toyota logo is placed in the center of this light strip, with the words “VELOZ” underneath. As such, these are images of the Toyota Avanza Veloz variant and there may be a slight difference in design compared to the standard version.

Interior:

Going inside, the interior compartment of the Toyota Avanza 2022 is redesigned more than the exterior. The cabin feels more luxurious its predecessor. Instead, it has a more modern and premium look. The dashboard is neat with a slimmer design, not too rough or out of balance with the overall design of the cockpit. The gearshift area is also added with silver borders and beautiful lighting strips. Toyota Avanza 2022 may use the same 9.0-inch infotainment screen as the Raize.

The car is equipped with a three-spoke steering wheel with convenient function buttons. Behind which is a hexagonal digital instrument cluster. Notably, Toyota Avanza 2022 now has an electronic handbrake to replace the traditional brakes. In the rear seats, passengers can enjoy the entertainment experience from a large screen mounted on the ceiling.
