Toyota Corolla 2023 (or Corolla Altis in Vietnam) launches in the domestic market later than the U.S. The model still sells with three body versions, including sedan (Corolla), wagon (Corolla Touring), and hatchback (Corolla Sport). All three versions have the same changes.

The C-size car now uses redesigned LED daytime running lights. Both the sedan and wagon versions have the same front-end design, with a large lower air intake. No longer is there a honeycomb grid style, but instead a series of horizontal bars. Fog lights are still round. The two outermost corners are false air slits.

The hatchback version – like that sold in Europe and the US – has more specially treated details, with prominent fog light borders, and arrow motifs in the grille. The tail section of all three versions remains largely the same as the current one, with only a few minor differences.

The interior of the Corolla 2023 does not appear to have changed, but Toyota emphasizes that the infotainment systems have been upgraded in terms of software as well as design.

Customers can choose between two sizes, the 8-inch Display Audio and the 10.5-inch Display Audio Plus, both with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless compatibility. The instrument cluster has also been upgraded to fully digital.

Units are equipped with Toyota Safety Sense safety package and active driver assistance technology.

All three versions can be equipped with a hybrid system. This setup includes a 1.8-liter Atkinson 2ZR-FXE four-cylinder engine with 96 hp and 142 Nm of torque, assisted by an electric motor with 93 hp and 185 Nm of torque.

Hybrid engines combine with e-CVT transmission, front-wheel drive. The sedan and wagon versions can then employ AWD thanks to the addition of an electric motor.

In addition, the sedan and wagon versions also have a new 1.5-liter Dynamic Force, naturally aspirated, 3-cylinder gasoline engine that replaces the old 1.8-liter 2ZR-FAE, naturally aspirated, 4-cylinder version.

The hatchback is also equipped with a Dynamic Force engine instead of the 8NR-FTS 1.2-liter turbo, 4-cylinder (114 hp, 185 Nm). The new engine is a 2-liter, 4-cylinder, with a capacity of 168 horsepower and 202 Nm, only comes with a Direct Shift-CVT transmission.

In Japan, the Toyota Corolla sedan 2023 retails for $13,800-20,700; the wagon version is $14,300-$21,000, and the hatchback is $15,200-20,000.

Toyota Corolla has been produced since 1966 and is now in its 12th generation (from 2018). In different markets, C-size cars can add different suffixes, such as Corolla Auris,or Corolla Altis. This product was the best-selling car in the world in 1974 and has been one of the best-selling cars since then. As of 2021, Toyota has sold 50 million Corollas.
