Toyota Veloz price ‘cools down’

After many months of being inflated by 30-40 million VND, Veloz’s price has returned to the listed level at some dealerships.

From the beginning of August, the price of Toyota Veloz at dealers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have started cooling down. There is no longer a difference of 30-40 million VND from listed prices as in previous months.

However, the stabilization of car prices is not the whole reason. Some places still have the Toyota Veloz price inflated for accessories, but the difference is only about half compared to before, 10-20 million VND. According to a sales manager of a Toyota dealer in Ho Chi Minh City, the market is at a low point when entering the Ngau month (July of the lunar calendar). “Demand this month is low while supply is starting to get better, so car prices are more comfortable than before,” he said.

A salesperson in Thu Duc City explained that Veloz’s supply from the end of August will be better, reducing the long wait of 2-3 months to a month or more. “Some customers wait a long time to withdraw their deposit or switch to another car, so they create space for new customers,” he added.

From the beginning of July, Toyota Veloz increases the price by 10 million VND for all versions of Avanza and Veloz. This and the low demand for cars due to the month of Ngau also contributed to the dealers to adjust their sales plans. The Veloz price is currently the highest in the small-size MPV segment.

Veloz’s main rival, Mitsubishi Xpander, which started selling the new 2022 model from July, also puts pressure on Toyota’s model. The prices of Xpander (versions Premium, Cross) are currently 10 million VND cheaper than Veloz.

Although facing the same difficulty in supply as Veloz, Xpander is always sold at the right price, there is no forced extra purchases situation. But Mitsubishi’s models are rarely deeply discounted because the demand is always high.

The under-700-million-VND MPV segment also has two other names from Suzuki: Ertiga, and XL7. These models are being given fuel-purchasing vouchers worth 10 million VND in August. Some Suzuki dealers in Ho Chi Minh City have discounts of 3-5 million VND to attract customers.

At the end of the first 7 months of 2022, Xpander continues to be the best-seller in the MPV segment with 10,855 units. Behind it is Toyota Veloz with 5,574. Suzuki Ertiga is the cheapest but also the slowest selling, accumulating only 624 cars.
