This may be part of Honda’s strategy of covering 2-wheeler segments in the Vietnamese market.

Recently, the image of Honda Vario 125 has appeared in the Industrial Property Official Gazette released by the National Office of Intellectual Property at the end of February 2023. The owner was Honda Motor Co., Ltd. This could be a sign that Vario 125 is about to be genuine distribution in Vietnam.

Vario 125 is a scooter model that is familiar to many people because it is a popular imported Indonesian model. Currently, many private units are selling this model for VND 46 – 50 million (VAT included). Compared to Vario 160, the Vario 125 2023 has no difference in appearance, but only uses a 125cc engine with a maximum capacity of 11.1 PS (8.2kW) at 8,500 rpm. Max torque is 10.8 Nm at 5,000 rpm.

Vario 125 also only uses front disc brakes and rear drums, not front and rear disc brakes like Vario 160. Of course, the scooter does not have ABS. Other equipment is similar to the Vario 160 with a full TFT instrument cluster, a front storage compartment with a closable lid, convenient USB port…

In December 2022, Honda Vietnam also sold genuine Vario 160 after a long period of relying on private imports. The expansion of distribution of imported models is said to be a new strategy that Honda will conduct in 2023 and in the future.
