VinFast cars will have a virtual assistant up to internal standards

In the context of virtual assistant technology being widely applied in the global automotive industry, VinFast quickly chose for itself a leading partner in this field.

On September 28, 2021, VinFast officially announced Cerence Company based in Massachusetts, USA, as a partner to provide voice control AI solutions on smart electric cars. According to the agreement, Cerence will provide VinFast with a number of core technologies:

  • Automatic speech recognition,
  • Natural language understanding (NLU),
  • Text-to-speech,
  • Natural Language Generation (NLG),
  • Enhance voice signals to develop virtual assistants capable of two-way communication

The virtual assistant can understand user commands and questions in 6 different languages, including English, German, French (for French and Canadians), Spanish and Dutch.

After the “Hey VinFast” activation command, users can ask the virtual assistant to perform control tasks such as increasing or decreasing the temperature, providing common-sense information, news, sports, and stocks, entertainment calendar or information about famous landmarks and tourist attractions… In particular, in the version jointly developed by Cerence and VinFast, users can interrupt the virtual assistant to give new commands instead of having to listen to the entire automatic dialogue like some other solutions.

Advanced cloud computing and embedded technologies from Cerence also assist car owners in all operations: from determining the route, controlling the vehicle to calling, texting, or controlling the vehicle’s infotainment system… Users can also ask the virtual assistant to provide information about operating conditions such as tire pressure, warning lights and adjust advanced driver assistance features (ADAS), environment control in the vehicle to ensure a safe and comfortable journey.

Currently, VinFast is developing and will be available in Vietnam, North America, and European markets, starting with 3 product lines of smart electric cars: VF e34, VF e35, VF e36 in 2021 and 2022. In addition to virtual assistants, 6 In the language of Cerence, VinFast is also working with VinBigData Company of Vingroup to develop a multi-regional Vietnamese virtual assistant ViVi, which is expected to be integrated on VinFast cars launched in the near future.
