VinFast recruits former Vice President of Volkswagen

Michael Lohscheller was recruited as the General Director of VinFast worldwide, responsible for expanding business activities and promoting the promotion of the Vietnamese automobile brand to the world.

On July 27, 2021, Vingroup announced the appointment of Mr. Michael Lohscheller – former VP of Volkswagen America and General Director of Opel Global – as General Director of VinFast. Mr. Michael Lohscheller will be responsible for expanding business activities and promoting VinFast to the world.

Michael Lohscheller was born in 1968 and has German nationality. The CEO received a bachelor’s degree in business administration (1992) after studying at the University of Applied Sciences Osnabrück (Germany) and the University of Barcelona (Spain). During his work, Michael Lohscheller also studied and received a master’s degree in European Marketing Management (1996) from Brunel University (London).

Specifically, Mr. Michael Lohscheller will work in Vietnam, directly managing and operating VinFast’s markets currently including Vietnam, the US, Canada, France, Germany, and the Netherlands. In addition, he will also participate in promoting the international outreach strategy, towards the goal of turning VinFast into a global smart electric car company.

With many years of experience in various management positions, including holding key positions for many major automakers such as Vice President of Volkswagen in the US and Global General Manager of Opel, Mr. Michael Lohscheller is one of the experts of the automotive industry.

In particular, Michael Lohscheller’s remarkable achievement is leading Opel to achieve stable profit growth after years of losses and converting Opel to an electric vehicle brand.

Currently, VinFast has introduced 3 electric crossover models in 3 different segments: C, D, and E, including VinFast VF e34, VF e35, and VF e36. In particular, VF e34 is a model exclusively for the Vietnamese market, has opened a deposit, and is delivered to customers since early November 2020. For the two models VF e35 and VF e36, VinFast is expected to open a deposit for Vietnamese customers in early 2022 with the same equipment and configuration as the version that will be sold in international markets such as the US, Canada, or Europe.
