VinFast announced the groundbreaking of an electric vehicle factory in North Carolina on July 28^th. It will be the first electric vehicle manufacturing facility in North Carolina, contributing to the supply of electric vehicles to the North American market, accelerating the global green transportation revolution.

The VinFast factory will be built at Triangle Innovation Point industrial park in Chatham County, North Carolina. The project covers a covered area of about 733 hectares with an expected capacity of 150,000 vehicles / year in phase 1. The factory will consist of 2 main areas: one for manufacturing – assembling electric vehicles and one for the auxiliary industrial area for suppliers.

Currently, the project has received basic permits to be able to proceed with the construction of phase 1. Once put into operation, the VinFast factory will contribute to creating a green manufacturing supply chain ecosystem as well as thousands of local jobs.

Ms. Le Thi Thu Thuy, Chairwoman of VinFast said: “The electric vehicle factory in North Carolina is one of VinFast’s key projects. After coming into operation, the factory will be VinFast’s main supplier to the North American market, helping us optimize production and business activities. We also hope the construction of the plant in Chatham County will contribute to advancing the green energy economy and transportation electrification strategy of the state in particular and America in general.”

The plant is expected to start production in 2025. Earlier, VinFast also announced to receive an incentive of $ 1.2 billion for the factory construction project including financial and infrastructure support from the state government of North Carolina, the city of Sanford, Chatham County and the Golden Leaf Foundation.

Beside building a factory in North Carolina, VinFast is also promoting business and brand recognition, through expanding the system of stores and service workshops, organizing test drive events and displaying products in the US, providing opportunities to experience directly to consumers.
