Toyota Vietnam recently introduced the new Innova Cross, positioning it in the C-class MPV segment to compete with models like the Hyundai Custin. This new generation Innova Cross has undergone substantial changes, featuring a monocoque chassis, in contrast to the previous model’s separate ladder frame and rear-wheel drive. This shift is aimed at appealing to a broader range of individual customers and younger demographics.
Exterior:
The exterior design embodies a youthful, sporty, and distinctive style, showcasing similarities to the Highlander SUV. Noteworthy features include a hexagonal radiator grille with a chrome lower trim, LED lighting system, and a choice of five colors. The rims are newly designed, with the HEV version using 18-inch rims, while the V version uses 17-inch rims.
Interior:
The interior of the Innova Cross has been redesigned with higher-quality materials and a chestnut brown color scheme. It offers flexibility with a choice of 7 or 8-seat configurations. The driver’s seat now features electric adjustment, and the car boasts a sunroof and decorative ceiling lights. The vehicle includes a 7-inch digital screen on the dashboard, a 10.1-inch entertainment touch screen, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
Engine:
The Innova Cross offers two engine options: gasoline and hybrid. The V version is equipped with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine with 172 horsepower and 205 Nm of torque. The HEV hybrid version pairs a 2.0-liter gasoline engine (150 horsepower, 188 Nm) with an electric motor (111 horsepower, 206 Nm). The total output of the combined gasoline and electric engines is around 183 Nm. Both versions come with a CVT transmission and front-wheel drive.
Safety Technology:
The HEV version is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), providing features like pre-collision warning, lane departure warning and assist, adaptive cruise control, adaptive headlights, blind spot warning, and rear cross-traffic warning. Both versions include a 360-degree camera, front/rear sensors, tire pressure sensors, electronic handbrake, automatic brake hold assist, and six airbags.
Price:
In Vietnam, the Innova Cross is available in two versions: HEV priced at 990 million VND and V priced at 810 million VND. The car competes directly with the Hyundai Custin, which is priced between 850 million and 999 million VND.
The Innova Cross addresses a need for a spacious 7-seat MPV in the market, providing a comfortable seating arrangement for adults in all three rows.
