According to information from dealers, the Vespa Elettrica electric scooter is about to be officially distributed. In some other markets, it costs up to 7,800 USD.
Piaggio dealers have recently begun accepting deposits for the Vespa Elettrica, a fully electric model set to be launched at the end of 2023. The vehicles will be imported from the factory in Pontedera, Pisa, Italy, and it’s expected that they will arrive in small quantities.
The Vespa Elettrica is the sole fully electric motorbike in the Vespa product line, and in terms of design, it closely resembles the Primavera version. In Italy, the vehicle comes in two versions, with maximum speeds of 45 km/h and 70 km/h.
Both versions of the Elettrica utilize an 86 Ah lithium-ion battery with an approximate range of 100 km. A full charge with a 220V household power source takes around 4 hours. The electric motor of this model has a capacity of 5.4 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque.
In the current Vietnamese market, there is a growing range of electric motorbike products from various brands like VinFast, Yadea, Son Ha, Dat Bike, as well as several Chinese brands operating independently. However, major market-share holders like Honda, Suzuki, SYM, and Piaggio have yet to commence sales of electric vehicles.
According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, electric motorbike sales in Vietnam have increased by approximately 30-35% in recent years, positioning Vietnam as the largest electric motorbike market in ASEAN and second globally, following China.
