Freightliner was established in 1942, currently headquartered in Portland, Oregon. Once owned by Daimler (Germany) from 1981 to 2021, Freightliner is now part of the Daimler Truck North American branch.

Freightliner manufactures a wide range of vehicles from vans, midsize trucks and heavy-duty trucks. The company’s tractor line also includes a flat head design (the cabin is located right on the engine) or a long-nose (the cabin is located behind the engine). Freightliner is also the best-selling truck brand in the US in recent years.
