Electric scooter 2023 Honda EM-1 has just been launched at an exhibition in Southeast Asia and is expected to expand to regional markets.
Unveiled at the 2023 GIIAS International Car Show in Jakarta, Indonesia, the Honda EM-1 scooter has garnered significant attention. Beyond its presence in the Indonesian market, there are expectations that the EM-1 will soon make its way to the European market as well.
The strong promotion of compact electric scooters like the EM-1 in Indonesia, an ASEAN member nation, comes as no surprise. The EM-1 is indeed one of the ten electric two-wheelers that Honda has slated for global introduction by 2025.
The “EM” designation signifies the electric nature of this small scooter model, while its design retains the familiar aesthetics of traditional scooters. Key features of this design include a short wheelbase and a flat footbed, facilitating easy maneuverability and practicality, such as pulling up a raincoat while riding in wet conditions. Geared towards short-distance urban commuting, the EM-1 boasts a 40 km range on a full battery charge.
The EM-1 employs the MPP portable battery pack technology, allowing the battery to be conveniently detached at charging stations. The electric motor generates a peak output of 3.1 horsepower and a maximum torque of 90 Nm, enabling the EM-1 to achieve a top speed of 45 km/h.
Charging the EM-1’s battery is notably swift. Equipped with a 19.4 Ah lithium-ion battery pack, the scooter can be fully charged within a mere 6 hours using a home charger. For a quick recharge from 25% to 70% battery capacity, it takes just 160 minutes.
Weighing a modest 95 kg and featuring a comfortably accessible seat height of 775 mm, the EM-1 is a lightweight option. Overall, the Honda EM-1 stands as an ideal electric scooter for easy urban commuting. Its youthful and fashionable design is particularly appealing to younger riders.
