The appearance of many large displacement motorcycles with reasonable prices makes popular clutch motorcycles not as popular as a few years ago.

Popular clutch bikes in the Vietnamese market are known as manual taper bikes with underbone design, or hyper-underbone and have a clutch structure and an engine with a cylinder capacity of less than 175cc. Currently, popular clutch-bike lines include Honda Winner X, Yamaha Exciter 155, Suzuki Satria F150 and SuzukI Raider R150.

In the past, popular clutch models were quite popular with young people with regular selling prices above the proposed price, even when there is a new version launched, it is still difficult to buy. Howerver, currently, according to our research, the selling price of popular clutch models is now below the company’s proposed selling price.

Firstly, about Winner X, this is a genuine listed clutch model with a selling price of 46.1 – 50.5 million VND. However, currently many authorized dealers are selling this model for only 34-41.5 million VND, which means the price iss under the proposal of tens of millions of VND. Moreover, the vehicle is also supported by Honda Vietnam with a vehicle registration fee of 3 million VND until the end of Kune 30^th.

Heading into 2023, Winner X sales are as dismal as the general market trend. Although its exact sales volume has not been released, Honda said Winner X sales in January and February decreased by 45% and 27%, respectively, compared to the previous month. In March and April, the company only briefly announced the Winner X as the best-selling clutch scooter.

Meanwhile, Yamaha Motor Vietnam has not publicly announced sales of Exciter clutch bikes for a long time. And currently, the selling price of Exciter 155 VVA at dealers is also below the company’s proposed level. Specifically, although the listed selling price is from 47.8 – 52.5 million VND, currently dealers are selling this car line at 42.5 – 47 million VND. That is, currently Exciter 155 VVA is below the proposed price of about 5 million VND.

Exciter 150 is also not out of the trend below the proposed price when currently only priced from 43.2 – 44.3 million VND, lower than the proposed price of 1-2 million VND.

From the beginning of 2023, Suzuki is tending to shrink the motorcycle production segment in the Vietnamese market when continuously announcing that it is out of stock with many motorcycle models. However, the duo Raider and Satria are still sold by the company. However, both are still not out of the trend of cheap prices below the proposed price.

Specifically, Suzuki Raider has a suggested price of 45.99 – 51.19 depending on the version, but currently the dealer price of this clutch model is only 41.5 – 50 million VND. And Satria F150 also has a cheap price below the proposed price of VND 1-3 million, although this vehicle line was previously very popular in the imported car segment.

Of course, the current situation of cheap selling prices under the proposal of clutch models is partly due to the general trend of the market, but a large part must also be mentioned is that many large displacement motorcycles are distributed in Vietnam with reasonable prices to help users have more options instead of just popular hand taper lines.

In addition, the trend of using electric motorcycles also contributes a significant part to the fact that clutch vehicles and gasoline engines in general will be affected in terms of sales.
