Statistics from Statista Research Department (SRD) in March 2023 indicate that by the end of 2022, the number of motorbikes in Indonesia reached 125.27 million units. This is one of the countries with the largest number of motorbike users in the world. Motorcycles are also the most popular means of transport in this island nation, far surpassing vehicles such as cars.

In Thailand, according to information from Bankokpost newspaper, as of March 2023, more than 22 million motorbikes have been registered in Thailand. In particular, Thai consumers are very fond of using scooters to travel. Malaysia is also a country with a very large number of registered motorbikes. By the end of 2020, the country had about 12-13 million registered motorbikes.

At a scale of less than 10 million motorbikes registered nationwide in Southeast Asia, the Philippines can be mentioned. According to SRD statistics, by the end of 2022, the number of motorcycles and tricycles registered in the Philippines is about 7.81 million units.

Meanwhile, according to data from the ASEAN Motor Vehicle Association, the Philippines has produced 935,000 motorcycles and scooters by 2022. By the end of 2021, government figures show that there are 8.07 million registered motorcycles. In Cambodia, the number of registered motorbikes is also better, up to about 6 million units as of June 2023.

In some other countries in Southeast Asia, the number of registered motorbikes is less. For example, in Brunei, very few people use motorbikes as a means of transportation. People in Brunei mainly use cars as their main means of transportation.

In Vietnam, the number of registered motorbikes is more than 72 million units, equivalent to about 72% of the population having motorbikes. This figure shows that Vietnam is the number 2 powerhouse in motorcycles in Southeast Asia.

With the number of registered and used motorbikes up to hundreds of millions as above, Southeast Asia is considered a fertile motorcycle market. According to Motorcyclesdata.com, the motorcycle industry in ASEAN accounts for about 25% of the worldwide market share.
