Sales of Honda motorcycles fell sharply in May and the situation is expected to have little breakthrough in the next few months.

According to the business results announcement in May 2023, Honda experienced a significant drop in motorcycle sales in the Vietnamese market. The total number of motorcycles sold in that month was only 142,580 units, representing a decline of 31.5% compared to April 2023. Additionally, sales decreased by 8.3% compared to the same period last year.

When considering the cumulative sales for the fiscal year 2023-2024 (from April 2023), Honda’s total motorcycle sales in the market reached 350,696 units, showing a slight increase of 3.1% compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year.

However, it’s important to note that the trend of declining sales for Honda motorcycles has been consistently observed in recent years. Furthermore, several Honda motorcycle models, including the popular Honda SH scooter and the Vision scooter line, have experienced significant decreases in sales.

There could be multiple factors contributing to this trend. For instance, the lingering effects of the pandemic and wars have made life more challenging for many individuals, leading them to prioritize saving money. Additionally, the current summer season, which coincides with the ongoing rainy season and the approaching dark month of July, may also contribute to a decrease in motorcycle demand.
