The domestic supply of motorbikes recovers, coming to 3 million units

05 Dec 2022

Only in the first 11 months of 2022, the number of domestically produced vehicles was estimated at over 2.9 million vehicles, up 10.8% over the same period last year.

According to a report of the General Statistics Office recently announced, in November, the whole country estimated 360.900 motorbikes were shipped. This is the month with the highest production of new motorcycles since the beginning of the year, up 13.1% compared to October (319.200 units) and up 32.4% over the same period in 2021.

Accumulated in November 2022, the output of newly manufactured motorcycles is estimated at 2,979 million units, up 10.8% over the same period last year. Thus, there are only about 20,700 units left before the domestic motorcycle manufacturers will reach the milestone of 3 million units according to the forecast made from the beginning of the year.

With the number of new motorbikes being pumped strongly to the market in the past 3 months, experts believe that the shortage of goods, especially some “hot” models, will soon cool down during the peak season of year-end shopping.

According to sales data of the Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (VAMM), in the whole year of 2021, the sales of motorbikes of its members reached 2,492,372 vehicles, down 8.1% compared to 2020. Thus, in addition to consumption in the domestic market, some member units of VAMM also export CBU motorbikes to many countries and territories but do not disclose specific quantities.
