Yamaha Vietnam to open sales of electric motorcycles

The electric motorcycle models were once displayed at an event of Yamaha Vietnam in March.

Yamaha Vietnam has just posted on the social networking site that it will introduce two new models on December 30. The Japanese automaker does not reveal much information about these models, only that one product has a classic style, while the other is futuristic.

Based on the attached image, it is not difficult to recognize the two upcoming models. They are the XSR155 and Neo’s. If the XSR155 is somewhat familiar when it has been distributed by private dealers, Neo’s is a completely new product.

Yamaha Vietnam once brought Neo’s to an event in Phu Quoc in March, this model is also being assembled at the Yamaha Noi Bai factory in Hanoi.

Yamaha Neo’s is equipped with an electric motor with a maximum capacity of 2,500 W, maximum torque of 136 Nm. Power supplied to the motor comes from a 19.2 Ah lithium-ion battery pack, which takes about 8 hours to fully charge. The vehicle can travel up to 70 km for every full charge.

There is still no information on the price of Yamaha Neo’s. It is highly likely that this model will cost no more than 40 million VND, competing with VinFast Klara S (36.9 million VND). At this price range, users currently do not have many options for electric scooters, which is considered an appropriate price range for Neo’s.

Introducing electric motorcycles in Vietnam at this time is quite reasonable when the gasoline-based vehicle market is saturated. Yamaha Vietnam still needs to solve the problem of charging stations – the most important factor for users when converting from gas-based to electric vehicles.
